Sign Up for our Fall Weekend Retreat which will run from 7:00 PM Friday, November 17, to 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 19. Partial attendance is OK. This Retreat is an excellent opportunity to deepen your meditation practice by allowing you to cultivate self-awareness for an extended period of time without distraction.
The retreat will be led by Achan Da and Achan Niphen, both ordained Thai Forest Monks, and meditation masters. Achan Da has been teaching for 35 years. He is currently abbot of the Center for Mindfulness & Insight Meditation in Redding, CT. Achan Niphen has been teaching meditation for over 25 years. He is the Assistant Abbott of both Wat Sanamnai monastery in Thailand, and of the our sister center in CT.
While the retreat will be conducted mainly in silence, there will also be Dharma talks and question and answer periods. And, as is the tradition with meditation retreats, all attendees will have a private interview period with Achan Niphen or Achan Da, as a further aid to their practice.
Hours of practice during the retreat will be from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, and from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday. Practitioners may also elect to attend either Saturday or Sunday only. The cost to attend the full retreat is $40 and will include lunch, and dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. This fee only partially covers our costs, so additional donations are greatly appreciated, and necessary for us to keep our doors open. On the other hand, if the fee is a hardship due to one’s present circumstances, it will be waived.
This is a non-residential retreat, meaning participants will return home at the end of each day, or secure other nearby sleeping arrangements. But, the idea is to limit one’s time at home to only the time needed to sleep and have breakfast in the morning, in order to avoid getting caught up in daily concerns. This will allow you to have the rare experience of continuity of mindfulness over a more extended time period.
Please register by Saturday November 4th. You can request a registration form, or get more information by e-mailing:
